Cherrapunjee Mawsynram Shillong Guwahati

During my school days, it was the 1 marks question in the social science subject. And the question is “Which is highest rainfall place in India?” and the answer for that question was cherrapunjee, later the answer became Mawsynram because earlier cherrapunjee used to get highest rainfall, now a days Mawsynram is getting highest rainfall.
Thus I used to think, how could be that place?
Whether its rain 24 hours in that place?
Whether the place is covered with full greenery?
And unknowingly I got developed with inner desire to visit at least once to that place, and that desire became real this month.

Day 1 – June 3rd
I and Saha (my wife) started from Bijapur (my home town, a city in north part of Karnataka state) in the afternoon reached to Gulbarga (another city in north part of Karnataka state). Started at 7.00 pm from Gulbarga through Hussain sagar express railway to Mumbai.

Day 2 – June 4th
Reached Mumbai at around 5.30 in the morning.

Even at 5.30 am, Mumbai railway station has crowd.

Took a taxi to Airport and got fresh and gone to checked-in counter, the flight was at 10.30 am to Guwahati .As usual news from airlines that 1 hour delay to the flight. Started at 11.30 am, reached to Guwahati at 2.30 pm

A Mumbia city from the plane.

Guwahati is a capital city of Assam and also entrance point to the North-Eastern part of the India. People coming from different parts of India use this city as the base point for to reaching north eastern India. We felt as if, we came to different world. From looking this, I can understand the real meaning of “Unity in Diversity” about India, A South Indian find the North Eastern India with vast cultural difference, difference in appearance of the people, people in accent or style of talking, yet having same inner feeling of identity, the feeling that we are Indians. From airport, we took a shared taxi and started our journey to Shillong. Here Taxi’s are main mode of transports, public transportation facilities is very less. Cost of transportation especially in shillong and cherrapunjee is more.
In taxi, we got the company of nice lady, who is native of shillong, shared us a lot of information about the surrounding place and also about their culture. People are very talkative here, but you need to start a conversion, once you start chat with them, it will only end when both departs.
It took three to three and half hours to reach Shillong and reached 7.00 pm. Shillong is capital city of Meghalaya, Everything here get closed by 8.00 pm, thus checked in the one of hotel in area called police bazaar, a happening place of the city.
