Raising a fund for flood remedy in north karnataka
This is mail sent to all ,when we got very good response, for raising the fund for providing aid to flood affected people of north karnatka.
We are keeping track , through this blog, while collecting fund.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hi all
Thanx to all, for your responses and encouragements.
Below is the summary and actions items, we planning for solution at our level.
We contacted, some of the people from gadag and hulkoti, to know about the ground realities, they said rescuing the people from different parts of flood areas is over, and the water level is still same, and are expecting that water level might decrease within one or two weeks.but the real problem is feeding(both food and water, as water is contaminated) the people, providing shelters. Some of the yuvak madals and other organisation has setup the temporary sheds to provide the shelters for the people, and also some organisation are setuping food centres in different areas by collecting money from different people.
When we asked to one or two people, who are heads of some yuvak sangh or mandals that:"What can we provide, which will be helpful for flooded affected peoples?"
The suggestion given by them is,to make arrangements for food,we need to provide necessary food grains, and they have human resource to prepare foods and distribute, only thing is we need to be incharge of it,so that nothing can be misused.
We also discussed , with all the people, who responded to the mails and still responding, and came to the common conclusion, that we will raise a fund and collect old clothes ,so that we provide make a arrangements for food for short term solution.
but long term plan is to setup some organisation, with the help of NGO like aid(http://aidindia.org),through which some further improvements can be done, which will help us in camping social works, raising funds and awaring the farmers of real problems. We are plannig some meetings and also planning to contact aid,as some of us are members of AID.
We have also updated the same mail on the blog http://expressthefeelings.blogspot.com/RaisingFundForFloodinUttarakarnataka.html and will be providing latest updates on the same link, so that we should not miss to provide inforamtion while forwarding mails(as forwarding is chain process),and also to provide better transparency.you can also write comments and suggestion to this blog.
Our plan goes this way:
1. we are collecting as much money and clothes as possible till Friday evening and few of us will be visiting few of the severely affected places like Shiruvala, Lakkalakatti, Radder Naganur.and many more places near Naragund, Navalgund etc probably Saturday or else Sunday.
2. From the money we collect we are planning to make food arrangements to the people, money will not be given in direct form to anybody and all the accountancy will be shared with each one of you once we serve them like how much was contributed from each person, what all were the expenses etc. this is just to maintain transparency.
3. we are trying to identify some people from the highly affected areas so that they can mentor us well when we go there to carryout this process of making food arrangements. So if any of you are interested in doing your bit towards this social cause please do join us and guide us.
4. since it was becoming difficult to keep track of all the mail ids that are in the list, we are planning to come up with blog, which once I send across you can share it with your friends so the message spreads and many more people will join this cause.
After this first visit if we feel that we should still go further we are planning to go forward and see what best we can do……….
Now We are requesting, all of you to contribute for the cause, and also make other people to contribute by forwarding this mail.
People who want to contribute money, can shoot a mail to
Rajshekhar.Shirur@arm.com
patils@kyocera-wireless.com
somashekhar.sonnagi@gmail.com
Note: We also need volunteers, who can contribute their time for doing related works, and also people who knows well about the
flood affected areas.
Thanx in advance, for all kind of contributions.

Its Good Initiative.
I come from same area. I Know NGOs and some other organizations which can guide to identify most affected and less reached areas.

I appreciate & am glad that we can make some difference. I am Deepak from Gadag. I am trying to figure out the most affected areas where most help is required & the NGO’s around. Also would be there to volunteer.
Can anyone suggest the means to collect clothes? Also money in case they are not flexible with Net Transfer

Basu,
I still feel that people living in metros don't understand the problems farmers facing. We are earning in 'K' but farmers even after so much of hard work in blazing sun they earn in 0.000K.It's very easy to sit infrant of the computer with nice chair, clean room with AC on.I am also a software engineer bt atleast we can help during this time.Just visit village once,They walk 10KM to save 5Rs,are they strong no fate made them strong.I dont expect all to help them every time but atleast during this it's insane to sit in home without doing anything. We are proviledged but not all.People r crying for food but we are planning about the weekend wether to watch movie in forum or garuda.
I am not in india currently to c what exactly happening but I can feel it.Let's do something for our home(north karnataka first).we will c our country later.
Basu.

********IMPORTANT********
All,
Just to give few more updates. Yesterday we happen to get some contact at Bagalkot dist. We had a conversation with a person who happens to be Udaya TV correspondent for the entire dist. He is busy with election schedule now…. But he agreed to help us surveying villages around bagalkot this Saturday.
We will give a detailed report as to what needs to be done on Monday or Wednesday (Tuesday being holiday) and then we can go ahead and do whatever little we can…
Will keep you all posted.
Adios,
Sidharth

Dear All,
There is a slight change in the plan that is going to be carried out.
First of all thanks a lot for your humble response you have shown towards helping the noble cause.
We are getting overwhelming response from the people to donate the clothes, but , since at this point of time we really know how far clothes are going to be helpful for us. As we might give only Trousers and Shirts, since there would be a lot children and women also, we would like to hold back collection of clothes, till we get to know the ground reality. At this point of time money would be an awesome way to contribute.
However, after our visit to the affected places, we do let you people know about the collection of clothes.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience cause.
Do spread this message across to those who have been informed about the same.
Thanks and Regards
Nagaraj
Also thank you for many many responses by contributing money.
