Raising a fund for flood remedy in north karnataka

This is mail sent to all ,when we got very good response, for raising the fund for providing aid to flood affected people of north karnatka.

We are keeping track , through this blog, while collecting fund.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hi all

Thanx to all, for your responses and encouragements.

Below is the summary and actions items, we planning for solution at our level.

We contacted, some of the people from gadag and hulkoti, to know about the ground realities, they said rescuing the people from different parts of flood areas is over, and the water level is still same, and are expecting that water level might decrease within one or two weeks.but the real problem is feeding(both food and water, as water is contaminated) the people, providing shelters. Some of the yuvak madals and other organisation has setup the temporary sheds to provide the shelters for the people, and also some organisation are setuping food centres in different areas by collecting money from different people.
When we asked to one or two people, who are heads of some yuvak sangh or mandals that:"What can we provide, which will be helpful for flooded affected peoples?"
The suggestion given by them is,to make arrangements for food,we need to provide necessary food grains, and they have human resource to prepare foods and distribute, only thing is we need to be incharge of it,so that nothing can be misused.
We also discussed , with all the people, who responded to the mails and still responding, and came to the common conclusion, that we will raise a fund and collect old clothes ,so that we provide make a arrangements for food for short term solution.
but long term plan is to setup some organisation, with the help of NGO like aid(http://aidindia.org),through which some further improvements can be done, which will help us in camping social works, raising funds and awaring the farmers of real problems. We are plannig some meetings and also planning to contact aid,as some of us are members of AID.
We have also updated the same mail on the blog http://expressthefeelings.blogspot.com/RaisingFundForFloodinUttarakarnataka.html and will be providing latest updates on the same link, so that we should not miss to provide inforamtion while forwarding mails(as forwarding is chain process),and also to provide better transparency.you can also write comments and suggestion to this blog.
Our plan goes this way:
1. we are collecting as much money and clothes as possible till Friday evening and few of us will be visiting few of the severely affected places like Shiruvala, Lakkalakatti, Radder Naganur.and many more places near Naragund, Navalgund etc probably Saturday or else Sunday.
2. From the money we collect we are planning to make food arrangements to the people, money will not be given in direct form to anybody and all the accountancy will be shared with each one of you once we serve them like how much was contributed from each person, what all were the expenses etc. this is just to maintain transparency.
3. we are trying to identify some people from the highly affected areas so that they can mentor us well when we go there to carryout this process of making food arrangements. So if any of you are interested in doing your bit towards this social cause please do join us and guide us.
4. since it was becoming difficult to keep track of all the mail ids that are in the list, we are planning to come up with blog, which once I send across you can share it with your friends so the message spreads and many more people will join this cause.
After this first visit if we feel that we should still go further we are planning to go forward and see what best we can do……….

Now We are requesting, all of you to contribute for the cause, and also make other people to contribute by forwarding this mail.
People who want to contribute money, can shoot a mail to
Rajshekhar.Shirur@arm.com
patils@kyocera-wireless.com
somashekhar.sonnagi@gmail.com

Note: We also need volunteers, who can contribute their time for doing related works, and also people who knows well about the
flood affected areas.

Thanx in advance, for all kind of contributions.

Our North karnataka is flooding

Our land with black soil, famous in growing jowar, maize, groundnut, sugarcane is now drown in water. we are homeless, we lost our beloved ones, grains saved in the home for food are washed away, our buffaloes, oxen drowned out, we don’t have money, our fields are filled with water, and our crops were destroyed.
This is current story of our people and of our land of north Karnataka.
I seen times of India paper, where headline is about cricket, and the news about flood is given in fourth or fifth, does cricket values are more important than our farmers life?
And about MLA's, MP's and Minister's of our place, they get vote from our village, but once elected ,settle in Bangalore and enjoy with film actresses, and forget about the villagers, who elected them.
Our coalition government (BJP and JD), struggling since two months, and making meeting over meetings, just to transfer the power to another coalition partner. Since that time, no developments activities, Even if, it transfers power also, there will be no development, because most of heading party politicians time will be taken to maintain stability between the coalition government, and supporters politicians time will be taken to pull the legs of heading politicians. All of them just need power and money.
When Supreme Court declared more water from Cauvery to Tamil nadu, all politicians made a fuss, all people of Karnataka, came on the roads and protested, but our area is getting affected by floods continuously since three years, nobody is there to care for it.
During summer, Our river Bhima will become dry as cricket ground, as Maharashtra government will store all the water in the their dams, And during rainy season, our homes and land will get drowned, because Maharashtra government release all the water, which was stored in summer. Strikes will happen, just if we release one drop extra to Tamil nadu from Cauvery, but what about us, we are not getting any water at all, even if we get water, it will create floods.
When 100 projects will sanctioned from Karnataka government, 70-75 projects will be for Bangalore, remaining will for whole Karnataka,
Don’t our politician’s know that Karnataka is hundred times bigger than Bangalore?
Don’t our goverment know that Karnataka population is hundred times larger than Bangalore population?
Are we not the people of Karnataka or India?
Don’t we have a right to live happy life?
When Tsunami occured, so many NGO's and other people of from all over India, visited, donated and helped for affected people, But when we are getting affected, our so called people who had grown in this place are acting like blind, they have more curiosity in the watching T20 cricket then our life.
News channel have more interest in showing which VIP or which actresses wearied what color of dress in the super-star marriages. They dont have time to show the real problems of common people.
But the we(people themselves called as software engineers and feel there are on top of world, who always sit in the AC, who cannot survive without internet, who always want to spend his weekends in Malls, pizzahut, and mutliplex) claims ,ourselves as from north Karnataka, and currently living in Bangalore, do nothing for our place.
We feel, the only reason, we have took birth on earth, is to do bug fixing and testing and providing support to west. we don’t have other moral or social responsibilities to towards our people.
We grown in north Karnataka, we ate food grown by our farmers; we studied in school, colleges which are established by our people. but now we are serving to other countries, sitting nicely in other parts of world. I agree with the fact that, it is time of globalization, if we need to develop our country, we need to be in global market, but it doesn't mean that we need to forget our people. We are much more interested in living US and UK, and forgotten the villages of ancestors.
The society in which, we have grown is facing problem, now it’s our responsibility to help them. if we are now in financial in batter position, means it is effort of our family and of our society. Now its time to bring them in good position.
We just blame on others, put our social responsibility on others. We blame politicians, government officers, business mans for exploiting our society.
But what we have did?

What can done at the minimum by us for flood: collect your old clothes, raise a funds, visit to villages where flood got affected, encourage them, help them to establish their home again.

I apologize myself, that I am claiming myself north kannadian but not as kannadian, the only reason behind is the socio-economical imbalance created between these places by our system.
